Germany reports double-digit surplus for 2019

13 Jan 2020 11:06 AM

A German newspaper reported on Monday that the German federal government achieved a double-digit surplus in 2019, thanks to high tax revenues and low interest rates.

The newspaper, quoting government sources, added that unused private funds - including funds for school renovations or climate change incentives - also contributed to the surplus.

The official budget surplus is expected to appear later Monday.
