The Chinese government said in a statement that Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer engaged in talks late yesterday regarding trade between the United States and China.

The discussions included the first phase agreement between the two countries signed earlier this year, according to a statement issued by the US Treasury and the Office of the Trade Representative after the call.

The two sides said they agreed that "good progress" had been made to fulfill the first stage agreement and that they expected to fulfill the obligations under the agreement.
