Democrat Joe Biden and his party raised $383 million in campaign contributions last month, breaking the record for September and likely boosting his financial advantage over President Donald Trump ahead of the November 3rd election. Campaign director Jen O'Malley Dillon said on Twitter that the campaign had $432 million in cash for the final five weeks of the presidential race.

The amount surpassed the $365 million Democrats raised in August, which in itself was a monthly record for any US presidential campaign.

Biden has been far ahead of Trump in national opinion polls for several months, although Reuters polls show some convergence in swing states.

The Trump campaign has yet to announce its September total, but it raised $210 million in August. As of August 31st, Democrats had $466 million available to spend for the presidential race, compared to $325 million for the Republicans.
